The Finnish artist Sami Lukkarinen recognized early on the fact that the Selfie has taken the place of the selfportrait and reacted to this in 2003 with pixel portraits with which he attracted international attention. The artist skilfully adopted the characteristics of painting in order to pack our complex times into simple pictures, but at the same time to put the everyday at the disposal of the status of art. His latest series “Artificial” develops the selfies consistently and shows no real existing humans, but products of artificial intelligence.
