Artists for example of the Bauhaus experimented very early with the possibilities of film. The great surge in the development of the medium began in the 1960s with the enormous expansion of artistic modes of expression: in that decade, not only were many new and previously non-art materials introduced into art, but the creative process was also recognized as an art forum – in performance and video art. The medium then fully arrived in museums, galleries, biennials and collections in the 1990s and since then it has been impossible to imagine the art world without it.

We start the new year with the exhibition “Video Art!”, in which we show seven different positions. The spectrum ranges from documentary-artistic works by Herlinde Koelbl to a very poetic treatment of the medium by Marck or Konrad Mühe.
