Konrad Winter, born 1963 in Salzburg, is an expert in camouflage and uncovering in the field of painting. The mostly large-format works, car finish on aluminum, shine in bright colors and resemble photographs that are alienated by posterization. The result is an abstraction effect. When viewed from a distance, however, the closed color surfaces condense into a motif and reveal the image content. The motifs, landscapes and everyday, often simple genre scenes serve Konrad Winter as a means of transport to set his artistic statements in relation to the ambivalence between colour and form, abstraction and representationalism, materiality and immateriality.
